There are many organizations that provide a wide range of fully-accredited CME meetings to physicians and other health care professionals. As a primary care physician or specialist, you want to make sure you select an organization that is recognized for providing high-quality continuing medical education symposia and educational materials for physicians and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
If you are a nurse, it is important to find CME programs offered by a CME group that is an accredited approved provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). Additionally, if you are a pharmacist, you should search for CME conferences that provides continuing pharmacy education and offers accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
There are hundreds; if not, thousands of medical CME seminars and annual CME programs on both national and international levels providing educational materials on numerous medical topics. Medical Education Resources (MER); for example, had over 80,000 physicians (primary care physicians and specialists) and more than 10,000 nurses and pharmacists participate in just one of their programs annually.
There is also a website called MER.org that will allow you to search for CME courses in a variety of different topics. You can search by location, by conference, or by date. You can also get more information on the CME courses that they offer with pictures of the location and an easy online application to register.
Continuing medical education (CME) is a great way for doctors and health professionals to sharpen their skills and ensure that their knowledge is continually expanded and they’re kept updated with recent new developments.
